Day 1: :

Kathgodam – Dharchula

Travel: Drive (~8–10 hrs, 280 km)
Route: Kathgodam → Almora → Didihat → Dharchula
Altitude: 940 m
Highlights: Scenic drive through Kumaon hills, overnight in Dharchula.
Stay: Guesthouse/hotel.

Day 2: :

Dharchula – Sobla – Dhar

Drive: Dharchula to Sobla (~35 km)
Trek: Sobla to Dhar (~5 km, 3–4 hrs)
Altitude: Sobla (1,670 m), Dhar (2,130 m)
Highlights: Trek begins along the Dhauli Ganga river, villages, forests.
Stay: Campsite/tea house.

Day 3: :

Dhar – Sela

Trek: ~9 km, 5–6 hrs
Altitude: ~2,430 m
Highlights: Beautiful pine and oak forests, Darma Valley views.
Stay: Campsite/tea house.

Day 4: :

Sela – Balling

Trek: ~8 km, 4–5 hrs
Altitude: ~3,220 m
Highlights: Meadows, river crossings, views of Panchachuli peaks.
Stay: Campsite.

Day 5: :

Balling – Duktu

Trek: ~7 km, 4–5 hrs
Altitude: Duktu (~3,650 m)
Highlights: Duktu village is the last settlement. Stunning alpine meadows.
Stay: Campsite.

Day 6: :

Duktu – Panchachuli Base Camp – Duktu

Trek: ~4 km one way, ~8 km round trip, 5–6 hrs
Altitude: Base Camp (~4,260 m)
Highlights: Glorious view of the entire Panchachuli massif, glaciers, snowfields.
Return: Trek back to Duktu.
Stay: Campsite.

Day 7: :

Duktu – Nagling

Trek: ~12 km, 5–6 hrs
Altitude: ~2,740 m
Highlights: Descend through forests and meadows.
Stay: Campsite.

Day 8: :

Nagling – Sobla – Dharchula

Trek: Nagling to Sobla (~13 km)

Drive: Sobla to Dharchula (~35 km)

Stay: Guesthouse in Dharchula.

Day 09 :

Dharchula – Kathgodam

Travel: Drive back to Kathgodam (~8–10 hrs)

How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Annapurna Base Camp is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will too, you can.

What is the highest altitude reached in this trek?

Panchachuli Base Camp Trek comes in Eastern Kumaon Garhwal region of Uttarakhand Himalayas and it’s height is 4,260 meters. If we look at the history of Panchachuli so, it is said that the Panchachuli Peaks are a group of five Himalayan peaks which are situated at Kumaon Garhwal in the Himalayas.

Are there ATMs on the way to Panchachuli Base Camp?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Dharchula.

What about internet access?

Yes. The Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. The Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

Not really. It depends on you. If you want, ABC trekking can be done independently. You could hire a guide and a porter by yourself instead of going through an agency or not hire a guide at all. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic during the offseason.

It really depends on you. Is it your first time in Panchachuli Base Camp ? How confident are you of being able to find your way around? How pressed on time are you? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.
